Why I Am Not Buhari's Running Mate - Tinubu

I am a Nigerian who loves his country and am hopeful about what it can become. I have seen and conducted myself as a patriot long before I thought of myself as a politician.  I shall always walk this line and no other.
After all the political calculations are made and the dust of competition has settled, it must be this nation and its people who stand first and foremost. The question becomes whether we stand strong, able to shape ourselves into our best future or will we stand frail and trembling, burdened by the abject failure to surmount the multiple problems confronting us.

Facts About Buhari's Running Mate, Prof. Osinbajo

  1. He is a pastor at Olive Tree House of Prayer for All Nations in Banana Island, which is a Redeemed Christian Church of God Parish
  2. Professor Osinbajo is the Ethics Adviser to the Advisory Board of the African Development Bank
  3. He is also a director of Citibank (non-executive)
  4. He has served in various capacities in the United Nations.
  5. He is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)

It’s time to rebuild Nigeria- Buhari

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH
1. First of all, I wish to express my gratitude to the Chairman and members of the Convention Committee for planning and conducting a hitch-free convention. The same appreciation goes to the chairmen of National and State Executive Councils of our party. Thank you very much for doing an excellent job.
2. I would like to pay tribute to Chief Bisi Akande the first chairman of APC and his National Executive for managing the party in its early stages.
3. I also wish to commend Lagos State Government and state party for hosting this convention. Time was when people feared to come to Lagos. Today, Lagos is the cleanest and dare I say safest city in Nigeria. This achievement is due to the leadership and strength of purpose of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Babatunde Fashola the two Governors since 1999 and their team of professionals for this wonderful transformation Nigeria greets you!

100 PDP Members Defect to APC In Rivers State

Chairman Committee of Akuku Toru local Government Council said that no fewer than 100 members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party decamped to the ruling All Progressive Congress in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers state.
Receiving the decampees at Abonnema during the APC sensitization dialogue on Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC),the Caretaker chairman of the Council, Mr. Otiasah Christian Livingstone said that the defection was a boost and a reassurance that the local government area is one of the strongholds of APC in Rivers.
He told the decampees that APC is a party hinged on liberty, equity, fairness and justice assuring that all the decampees would enjoy the same status with old members without discrimination.
The chairman also assured them that they would not be marginalized in the scheme of things, adding that, together APC will sweep the 2015 polls in Akuku Toru as well as in the entire Rivers state.
Earlier, Mr. Shedrack Aman who led the decamping PDP members said that they decided to decamp to APC having found out that the PDP do not operate based on fairness and justice rather it is made up of personality cults that pursue personal interest without regard to collectivity and the welfare of the people.
In a statement endorsed by Amusa David, Special Adviser to Caretaker Chairman on Media Adviser Publicity said that it was based on this and the handwriting on the wall that PDP will lose woefully in the state that motivated them to decamp to the winning party.
Aman said that he and his fellow decampees would work tirelessly to see that APC coast to victory in Akuku Toru local government area.

Security Operative Invades APC Secretariat in Lagos

Armed security operatives on attacked the Lagos, western Nigeria office of the main opposition party in the country, the All Progressives Congress, APC, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, has said.

Mohammed further said the security men destroyed the party’s data base calling it an impunity carried too far and a scandal that can best be compared with the Watergate Scandal of the United States of America that led to the resignation of the country’s president, Richard Nixon in 1974. A statement from him on Saturday afternoon, said the APC strongly condemns the invasion of its Lagos offices by security agents, adding that it was one of the worst political scandals in Nigeria’s history.

In the statement Mohammed issued in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, the APC said: “the invasion could only be likened to the Watergate Scandal that led to the resignation of US President Richard Nixon in 1974, as a result of the June 17, 1972, break-in at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C., and the attempted cover-up of its involvement by the Republican Nixon administration.” It therefore called for an independent inquiry to fish out those who ordered “the needless and unprovoked attack” on the offices of the APC and ensure that they face very serious consequences, irrespective of their status.

“Saturday’s attack is another one in the string of attacks and illegal actions of the PDP-led administration. The attack was unwarranted and unjustifiable. “To attack one of the offices of the opposition party, APC, where legitimate operations of the party were being undertaken is an act of fascism and totalitarianism. To the point of brigandage, the invasion of the APC centre is an assault on the APC and its entire membership across the country. It must not go unpunished,” the APC said
