The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC),
yesterday, held its governorship primaries across the country in preparation
for the 2015 governorship election, with the following candidates emerging
victorious from the exercise; they include; Governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun),
Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe) and
Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), former Minister of the
Federal Capital Territory, Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna); Others are, a member
representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of
Representatives, Mr. Dakuku Peterside (Rivers); Olorogun O’tega Emerhor
(Delta); Chief Okey Ezea (Enugu); a former Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State
Government, Mr. Umana Umana (Akwa Ibom), Umaru Al-Makura (Nasarawa) and a host
of others.

Five Peoples Democratic Party’s governors including
the Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, and Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill
Akpabio, the governors of Bauchi, Jigawa, Cross River, and Niger states, Isa
Yuguda, Sule Lamido, Liyel Imoke and Babangida Aliyu respectively held a
closed-door meeting with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, at his Hilltop
residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday.
The meeting according to report lasted for 3 hours. According to Obasanjo who
spoke after the meeting, it was a forum where they tried to address some
national issues, particularly the present state of the nation’s economy.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives
Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, hadon Thursday taken a swipe at President Goodluck
Jonathan, saying his tolerance for corruption was largely responsible for the
present security situation in the country.. Odigie-Oyegun was speaking in Abuja
while explaining how the APC’s will successfully tackle corruption if it takes
over power in 2015.

The Boko Haram Islamic sect have not done yet with
their violent campaign as they launched another attack on Bajoga, the
headquarters of the Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State. Report says
the insurgents who decked on military uniforms invaded Bajoga in about 20 Hilux
jeeps around 8am.

For attempting to return to his position, and for
taking on the national chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji
Adamu Mu’azu, members of the National Working Committee of the party have
suspended Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. The suspension came on Saturday in a meeting presided over by the
National Chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu.

Former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief
Edwin Clark, yesterday in Abuja expressed fears that President Goodluck
Jonathan may be killed by the opposition as the 2015 presidential election gets
on the way. He said the opposition was capable of doing anything to wrestle
power from the present government.

he Federal Government, yesterday said logistic problem
was responsible for its cancellation of the training of Nigerian soldiers by
American security experts, saying that the condition laid down by US government
was not healthy for the security of lives and property of its citizens in the
north.

In a prayer through his counsel, Ahmed Raji (SAN) with
an application pursuant to Order 2, Rule (1),(2),(3) of the Fundamental
Enforcement Procedure rule and Sections 34,35,36,37 and 42 of the 1999
Constitution seeking for the enforcement of his fundamental human right, Sadiq
Ogwuche, the alleged mastermind of the Nyanya bomb blast is challenging his
detention without trial by the Nigerian government, demanding for 100 million
naira compensation.

The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law
Enforcement Agency has destroyed 6,795.2 kilogrammes of drugs, including
Cannabis sativa(popularly called hemp) among other narcotic substances.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday by
the NDLEA Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju.

What would have turned out to be a major disaster on Thursday was averted by the Police as a
“grenade” reportedly found near a Primary school in the city of Jos was
reportedly defused by the Police Anti-bomb. Report says the bomb had already
been lit, but it went off before it could cause an explosion.
