1. Report has it that Russian made
Antonov aircraft loaded with heavy arms and a chopper tucked was intercepted at
the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano Nigeria on Saturday. It was further
revealed that there is an ongoing investigation targeted at unravelling all the
mystery surrounding the aircraft and the contents in it.
2. The trend of prison break
continued on Saturday as over 20 prisoners at the Minna Maximum Prison were set
free by 10 gunmen who invaded the prison and took on prison security men.
3. The Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, held its nationwide primaries for the House of Representative yesterday.
While some were conducted in a free and fair atmosphere, others ended in a
controversial way. Report says Enugu state’s ended controversially after
parallel elections were held in some parts of the state.
4. It was a shocking scene in
Ekiti state on Saturday when Governor Fayose of Ekiti State and his
predecessor, Kayode Fayemi exchanged pleasantries publicly by shaking hands at
the 60th birthday of Segun Oni which held at the Methodist Church, Ifaki,
Ekiti. Report says both men sat together and intermittently smiled at each
other.
5. A national leader of the All
Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has denied reports that he is having issues
with the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, over who becomes the next
governor of Lagos. The denial was contained in a statement issued on Saturday
by his media organisation.
6. Formal National Chairman of the
PDP , Bamanga Tukur has been advised to apologise to President Goodluck
Jonathan for violating the party’s constitution. The advice was given by the
secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jubrin. This follows
Tukur’s suspension from the party.
7. In their various effort to
secure the support of delegates in their bid for the sole Presidential ticket
of the All Progressives Congress, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kano
State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso on Saturday had a serious session with
delegates in Port-Harcourt and Lafia respectively.

8. In his reaction to the invasion
of the National Assembly by men of the Police and the DSS, the President of the
Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Augustine Alegeh, has advised that a judicial
panel of enquiry be instituted to look into the circumstances leading to the
incident.
He spoke on Friday night during the 2014 Annual Bar Dinner/Award of NBA, Ilorin
branch.
9. Report says the Military, on
Saturday in Ashaka in Gombe State overpowered the islamist Boko Haram sect
during an invasion of the area. Report says wjile 10 soldiers were killed in
the fight, over 70 Boko Haram terrorists lost their lives.
10. The All Progressives Congress (CPC)
yesterday said the party would dethrone President Goodluck Jonathan and the
Peoples Democratic Party and take over Government in 2015. The party made the
statement through its national chairman, John Oyegun and the national vice
chairman, Southwest, former Ekiti governor, Segun Oni. They said the party has
already been ordained to take over power in few months from now.
